Thumbs up

Pidgey To the Rescue!!!

Story to Share and Hopefully Pidgey will come on and give all details.

We had a bird reported near Pidgey on the 911 Pigeon Alert Group, Pidgey I am guessing was monitoring and seen the post come through. Pidgey contacted me in order to reach our finder, Pidgey then contacted the finder and went to work to rescue a beautiful little white wedding pigeon, all informatin had not been provided to me but as it turned out this little one was free flying and taken up with the local flock, now this is where most would have probably figured they may be beat, not our Pidgey "Authorized Person" Pidgey went to work with educating the finder, setup a box, stick, food, and fishing line, within an hour after assisting the finder there was success.

Now this is the briefs, Pidgey should give the entire story, Pidgey is a hero!!!!

Thanks so much.

Ellen

Ain't that bigga' deal... it was only four miles from work. The bird's downfall (or salvation, depending on your point of view) was safflower seeds. The family who processed it are real animal lovers so the bird couldn't have found a better house to come and eat at. The ferals there share their guineas' food.

Anyhow, it was up on the roof lounging on its side. The entire flock was wary of me (I look pretty shady to most folks, can't help it) so I couldn't coax them close enough to have a chance. However, they repeatedly went for the small spreads of the safflower seeds that I brought with gusto, ESPECIALLY this guy--he KNEW what they were.

So, it was the classic Wile-E-Coyote style box trap (cardboard box propped up on a ~foot-long stick with a string tied on it to pull at the proper time), safflower seeds and the lady's patience that won the day. I set it up and all she had to do was sit and wait until the sucker's greed did him in. He's an absolutely gorgeous white pigeon and she had him within an hour.

I'd talked with her and she'd already discovered a couple of white wedding-release pigeon deals in town on the Internet. I told her she might as well call them both up and simply ask. It panned out. I think this bird's story was that it was given away from its home loft and probably not trained well enough. That's always a little spooky so if it gets loose again, I hope it finds its way back to these folks. It's really in a fair bit of danger though because once in the last week, one of the ladies that lives there found it sitting in her front garden at 11:30 PM, staring at an ornamental garden light in the shape of a crescent moon. It was sitting pretty low to the ground, an excellent candidate for a cat's meal.

Well, unfortunately (for me), it's gone back to the folks that had it. They were going to come by yesterday to get it, as I was told.

I'm heartbroken.

Now, now, when something is meant to be, all falls into place. Just not time for you to have a "whitey," Pidgey...

Have patience, grasshopper...

Which Pidgey are you talking about (there are several birds on here named "Pidgey")?

Pidgey,

The first thing to go is the memory .....take it from one who knows.

Does this help?

Uhh... well... I always forget the things that I didn't log into my memory in the first place. I didn't realize that that was the "Pidgey" Naturegirl was talking about.

Oh, well...

Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like a total ass? Well I do now as I got Phyll and Pidgey messed up. I am such a butt head and I apoligize. Wasn't thinking clearly and I always thought Phyll was a man, which I found out she isn't a man at all. Could someone please tell me to shut up now!
