Possible that pigeons use more than ONE way to find "home?"
OR, maybe a way most would find "magical." Check out: http://www.sheldrake.org/evolutionar...g_pigeons.html It's Chapter Four: Homing Pigeons from a book by Robert Sheldrake, "Seven Experiments that Could Change the World" (London: Fourth Estate, 1994) The link works... homing/racing pigeonsI think God gave them ALL the necessary senses to provide optimum and efficient homing capabilities, including sight, sound, smell, and extra sensory perception, like having a built in compass, and pictures of their surroundings stored in memory, as well as seeing the earths magnetic field, and ultra violet light. That makes a pigeon quite unique!

Hi Shi,
Thanks for that link...most interesting and baffling as well. All those things mentioned were true and the tests they've done and still the birds get home. It really is amazing how they do it....maybe one day we'll know the answers I'm starting to think that a "6th" sense is possible...something that we can't conceive of being human. If monarch butterflies can do nearly the same thing, and with so little sensory perceptions, then there must be something else at work here that we just don't know or understand. |

Nothing is impossible...only unknown...
IMO...bottom line: ONLY THE PIGEONS KNOW FOR SURE! hahahahahahaha ![]() |
