Hi Pete,
Thanks for sharing. This is a positive story and will educate the ignorant, but it is sad to hear the art of pigeon fanciers/racing is dwindling there in NY. |

it is nice to see a little respect for pigeons. anton, the artist mentioned in the article lives directly across the street from us! i see him letting his pigeons go for some flying time often as i am feeding the ferals on my building's rooftop. shhhh.

Pigeons in Nueva YorkPete,
Thanks for sharing this link. Aias, Nice to have you aboard. Interesting that you live directly across from Anton, who has such a beautiful roof-top loft. Do you try to "steal" (lure) his birds with goodies? I guess you have plenty of ferals to help, as I do here in Cologne, Germany. Larry |

yes it is a small world.
i look longingly at his loft all the time, wishing that i could build one of my own and no larry i do not try to tempt his pigeons , they never even come close to my roof, they must be very well fed and happy with anton. my heart and concern is with the ferals anyway, i never even thought that i would have any pigeons as permanent residents in our tiny little apt. but now there is pio who is here till spring, sir duchess who might stay here permanently, and abuelito who is here for at least a week till his foot issue is resolved and he gets dewormed.the east village neighbourhood in new york city, is a pretty chill neighbourhood, there are hundreds and hundreds of pigeons around here, and i think they are tolerated more here than in other parts of the city. i feed them regularly at tompkins square park just 2 blocks from here, happily ignoring the do not feed the pigeons signs and the cops have just ignored me. in fact i have been bothered only once by some ornery old goat of a man. |
