Please help saving Wildlife Refuges in Alaska!

Hello Everyone! I need your help! Over and over, greedy politicians and Oil companies are trying to drill the National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. This is almost a never-ending story… but we can’t back down until we protect this from human predators forever! I am sure many of you have heard about the issue of drilling in the protected area of Alaska. I want you to know area that we are talking about is only 2% of the state of Alaska; developers already invade the other 98%. This is a tiny fraction compared to rest of the state of Alaska, it is extremely important to many of our beloved wildlife. Oil companies are making historically high profits, yet they are still getting a tax waiver from the current administration. Do you think drilling of National Wildlife Refuge (beyond the area that already drilled…once again 2 % of the land that is protected) will lower the cost of our gas at the pump?? The answer is NO. It will take the Oil companies over 10 years to drill and when it is ready to supply to our pumps, the oil companies will just add the cost of drilling add to the pump so it won’t save us any money…(regardless they are getting billions of tax dollars waivers from the government) Is it really worth us to drill in this special area where wildlife habitat has been protected for generations until now? Let us keep this last wildness for the voiceless friends, for our future generations and ourselves, so our children can enjoy what we see now!!!
Please go to this link below to take an action to support Sen. Lieberman’s bill to protect Alaska’s Wildlife Refuge forever!
It is very easy and only takes minutes of your busy day!

I know as an individual we might be powerless but as a group of caring people, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Fighting large corporations and the government seems hopeless and sometimes the results is very disappointing… when I feel hopeless I always remember this quote from Helen Keller.

“No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars or sailed to an uncharted land or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.”

-Helen Keller

We have to face our challenges and believe in ourselves…

The Land Belongs to the American People

I can not only read, but also feel your passion. I disagree with your assement that it is because of "Greedy Oil Companies"....I think it is because most of us need to get to work in the morning, and many of us drive cars, and they burn gasoline. In fact the whole national economy is depending on oil to fuel our cars, heat our homes, and run our places of business. There is nothing available right now, which can totally replace oil. There may very well be more oil in Alaska, then in the middle east. I want to be able to run my car, and heat my home, and I want to be able to turn the lights on in my house. At some point, and I don't know if it is $4 gas or $6 gas, or even $9 a gallon for gas, people are going to demand access to the fuel which keeps us alive. And for those who are old enough to remember the 1973-74 oil embargo, it was not about price, it was about availability. People waited in lines for hours in order to purchase a few gallons at controlled prices. This land is owned by the goverment, and the people are the goverment. Whatever the good Senator may do in favor of some good press, can be undone by future politicans who want to keep their jobs. And I am pretty sure if prices doubled over the next year, we the owners of that land, will demand access to it.

Save People and Animals at same time !!!

I spoke with both of mine, and got most of my friends to send a note...but with a more pro-enviroment, and pro-people twist ! We also suggested that a two acre "foot print" out of 2,000,000 acres was necessary in order to pump out that dirty oil which is in the ground, which could have a negative impact on the animals which live in the other 1,999,998 acres. I suggested that we could not take a chance that an earthquake could spill that stuff out of the ground, uncontrolled and all over the place !! We have to do the right thing, and get that stuff out of there to protect the animals on the other 1,999,998 acres, and allow people to keep from freezing in their homes. I also reminded them that millions of good folks, heat their homes with oil or natural gas, and at election time in November it starts to get pretty cold, and they don't want people freezing to death, and that I purchase tickets to those fund raising dinners.....

Well I for one am sick and tired of hearing the environmentist people tell us that we can't drill in the Gulf of Mexico, or in the Dakotas or Alaska. the Chinese are going to drill with the help of Cuba in the gulf.Like Warren said people need to get to work people need to be warm in the winter.Look at the price of food it keeps going up because as the price of fuel goes up so does the price of everything else. This passed winter was rather cold all over the country. . I already have produced children, grandchildren and great grand children, and none of them turned out to be popsicles, and I am still alive.

I remember decades ago there were people saying there would be global ice age by the year 2000.....now the story is in 30 or 40 years we will all become canables due to global warming. This is the greatest hoax ever ! The earth has been going through climate change for billions of years....these hoaxer's want us to go back to the horse and buggie days....except that the horses produce methaine gas...and so they will have to go to !! The whole world has gone insane.
