Hi Folks,

Becege is right, there is a book entitled "Pigeons" by Andrew Blechman, saw it today in Chapters. I was shopping for other people so I decided I'd better skip the presents for myself, this time! Lol

Here's the book and it did/does look interesting to read.

Hi Shi...

I've never been a fan of "sugar coated" things....nature is what it is, people are who they are and can be very cruel. For myself, I always liked to hear both sides, two stories and make my own mind up.

I know about 40% of what Andrew would write about in his novel, and I'm SURE I'd love this book. Plan on buying it after Christmas and shopping.

As mentioned in another post, the Chapter that ruffles many a tail feather, is called "Pull." Has to do w/Pigeon shoots. NOT a pretty picture! And yes, there IS a recipe in the book...ignore...I did...

Let us know what you think after you read...

Blechman's book...

I am almost finished reading Andrew Blechman's book - got it yesterday.

Even though I'm already familiar with many of the facts he presents, it is a fascinating read so far. I believe he truly succeeds in honoring the humble pigeon with his writing. I plan to lend it out to all of my family and friends and make sure they read it!

Indeed, there are some disturbing chapters. And as I mentioned, most of the folks on this list will be quite familiar with many of the facts, which in some cases are even a bit glossed over. But Mr. Blechman wrote the book to raise the general public's awareness of the pigeon's plight, rather than to entertain people who already love this gentle creature...and for that I thank him most gratefully. I don't think that anyone who reads this book could possibly look at a pigeon the same way again afterward. I am so happy that someone with a strong voice has taken up the cause to command some respect for our feathery friends. Thank you, Mr. Blechman!

I bought the book written by ANDREW D BLECHMAN, and I would like to give you a quote that he uses in the book..... "If you have men who will exclude any of GOD'S creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men"..... St FRANCIS... .GEORGE
