Pro pigeon comments needed

This is a question that we ask among ourselves:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6583217.stm

This is our chance to explain why we love them.

Cynthia

WOW some of these remarks are so stupid and exagerated... look at this idiot lol
Pigeons are a total pest. They annually infest the tree in front of my house, covering my drive and our cars with droppings (and I do mean covering). They must be a health risk - I slip on their droppings probably every other day and it can't be healthy to touch their droppings when they are all over the door handle of your car!

^^ pansy lol.

i like her response
I love pigeons. They're full of character, have that great walk which is actually really funny if you take the time to watch them. Some have beautiful markings as well as that lovely green or purple sheen on their feathers. Seagulls on the other hand...

..
but anyway. there are over populations of humans, which polute a thousand times than pigeons, why dont we exterminate them? see how they like it. i STILL think that they just bring pigeons up for a scapegoat for what really is going on in their country. one of the main reasons people hate them is probably media. just my 2 cents.

Here in the UK more and more cities are culling pigeons on the grounds of hygiene. At the same time they are reducing waste collection from one a week to fortighly collections, which will pong, attract vermin and encourage fly tipping.

For us across the "pond", what is "fly tipping"? Is it like cow tipping?
The vision is too much

LOL!! You'd need a very delicate approach to do that with a fly You're right, it is a wonderful image!

Here it means dumping your garbage, old junk or whatever - often by stealth at night - illegally on private or public land.

YIKES! Whoever came up with the term "fly tipping" with that meaning, sure has some imagination! LOL

Soooo funny, how different terms have such different meanings!
