Getting used to PGWear

So, how long did it take for your bird to stop flopping around like a loon and walking backwards while wearing their new PG Wear? :]

It took Brisby about 10 minutes or so to stop completely flopping and rolling around and getting his feet stuck in the straps.

Another 10 minutes after that and he was walking somewhat normally, occasionally bobbing and dipping backwards.

Another 10 minutes and he was flying and successfully landing, although he's still a bit ungainly.

Now he's able to move around with only a bit of wobble, although he's preening the heck out of himself, trying to figure out what the heck the thing on him is.

Sigh, I totally missed the other current thread on PGWear.

I STILL laugh out loud when I envision these guys "flopping" around on the floor. Makes me want to buy a PG wear and put it on one of mine just for the heck of it................

I remember the first time I put Skye's diaper on him, it was one of the test pg wear. It took me a few minnutes to get it on and adjusted. But once I got it on he didn't wrestle with it, but seemed to get one foot stuck in it as he walked, so I re-adjusted it, then after that he was fine. He loved picking at the little bell in the front, so I kept my eye on it that he didn't pull it off and try to eat it. But it was business as usual after that.

I think I embarrassed him though, bringing him outside to the coop for the whole world to see him in his pg wear, he won't have none of that anymore!

Day 2, it went on without too much struggle, and there wasn't any crazy flopping around this time, but Brisby did walk around backwards for a few, almost toppling off surfaces until he'd fly somewhere else and repeat. :]

He's still picking at the diaper quite a bit, but seems to be accepting it overall...

I think most pigeons will "pick" at anything strange and, of course, some take longer to "adjust."

When Squeaks has his "flight suit," he always picked at it. With Boni's PGWear, he was much more accepting. For one thing, there is not as much "material" and I think her basic design is more comfortable for the pijies. Once they get used to to PGWear, they seem most comfortable and just go about their business! Boni definitely had a "better design!"

Love and Hugs

Wish someone would make a video of the ''flopping'' . Reminds me of the little dogs that people would try to get to wear snow boots for the first time. Imagine if you can the dog trying to lift all four feet at the same time.

Thumbs up

are you kidding me???? i just got my checkered flag [what else???] PGwear for trooper, and i am flabbergasted!!! i had NO IDEA these were gonna be this well made!!!! there's a place inside for a phone number, just in case, and boni puts in a SERIAL NUMBER in case your birdling gets lost!!!!! i am utterly blown away!!!! i tried it on the wee girl, and of course it was about 3 times too big for her, but i had to see how it went on, and it's so adjustable, and SO easy to put on!!! i can't wait to get home and show the boy his new clothes! and i am DEFINITELY getting one for the baby girl.

i bought 'flight suits' for the parrots, and it was like a birdie vs. human wrestling match - that they always won. but these? i want to have her make some for THEM now.

so if anyone has any reservations about getting one - GET ONE. they are fantastic!!!! i don't even think her site does them justice - they are that well made.
