hen missing feathers. moulting.hen missing feathers around her hed and neck after laying her eggs. it happens sometimes around that time. is this common? Is she lacking something in her diet?

How often does this happen? You know, sometimes the male will keep trying to force the hen back to the nest to the point of pecking her pretty badly. They can lose a lot of feathers from that. Could that be going on?

Could be from a very aggressive male or maybe try Scatt plus Scalex Spray.
Try periodically spraying their living and nesting areas because it's hard to keep the little devils at bay sometimes...mites that is. fp |

I think it is either nutrition/stress issue or mites.
Make sure your bird has adequate calcium supplements, B complex and varied grain/legume and seed diet. You should probably give her a break from laying eggs after this round. She needs to enjoy some fun in the sun, relaxing around the swimming pool and just repleneshing her reserves. It is just as important to hens as is good wholesome nutrition.
