possible pigeon vet visitHi all,
If I take one of the pigeons (that are currently sitting on eggs together) to the vet, do you think it will stress the other one out being alone for a little while so much that she will stop sitting on the eggs? Also, after the eggs hatch (if they hatch), same question. Since my pigeons are both permanently injured, they are together all the time. I guess with pigeons that fly, it might be different as maybe they come and go while they take turns sitting. Mine take turns sitting but neither of them ever leaves. Thanks! |

It seems to me that you have a couple of dedicated loving pigeons/parents there. If one of the mates is going to be away at the vets for a few hours, I would not worry too much about the egg sitting, as long as they are in a relatively warm area. The mate may worry a little bit especially if they are close, and may pace, but they will be separated only for a short while. The eggs will not suffer. The pigeon might undergo a bit of stress, but it will be alright.

I agree that it shouldn't hurt either of them to be separated for a short period of time. If they were not setting eggs, I would take both of them to the vet. We have done that many times and the vet visit always goes smoother if they can still be together.
