Video of some PMV neurological symptomsThis is a link to a video of Surrey, who suffered from PMV and has residual neurological damage.
It illustrates the problems that some pigeons affected by PMV will have picking up seed and also the symptom described as "seed tossing". Despite his problems Surrey is able to feed himself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWC58llOBzQ Cynthia

Very nice job on this video, Cynthia. This should be very helpful to members needing to know what PMV looks like.

Cynthia,
Surrey seems OK though and able to feed himself so that's good. Before I found this site, I picked up a pigeon with what I think was probably PMV - he was in Kingston Town Centre and I had just seen this idiot of a street cleaner shove this poor bird with his broom because it was in the middle of the walkway and was having problems co-ordinating himself. People were looking at this pigeon as his behavious was bizarre. Incidentally I did report the man and got a letter from apology from the council! I did manage to catch the bird quite easily but then I didn't know any better and I took him to the RSPCA who said that he had Newcastle's disease and put him too sleep but I got the impression that they didn't know what they were talking about. I know different now and London Wildcare have taken birds in with PMV and allowed them to remain as a resident so I won't make that mistake again re RSPCA. Tania xx |
