Hi Edie,
I think Mabon knows what he is doing. I saw they all sit on the babies the firs days.
When they sit on eggs or babies, I offer them some food and water.
The females wing slap me, the males do eat.
Congratulation new grandma.

Hi Edie,
The parents will sit on the babies to keep them warm & secure.
I believe the second egg will hatch within 24-48 hours from the first one.

I would do whatever you had been doing prior to the babies birth, making sure the parents have plenty of seed, water & grit available.

Please keep us posted.
Cindy

I cant believe this! I thought those eggs were INFERTILE! Now, two tiny babies are here, and Mabon fed one already...we are bedding down for the night. I offered her seed in her nest and she ate a little, and she and my poor Tiny Tim are fighting like cats n dogs over who gets to be with the babies! I covered the cage, and they are resting quietly. I am so excited, and nervous, thanks you guys for being there. I guess I had better start building two more cages, so the little ones, if they are healthy and sound, can have their own space.

I will offer water in the nest tomorrow...right now they are busy wing slapping me

Congratulations Edie! I see Tim and Mabon have really surprised you! It sounds like they know perfectly well what they should be doing .. you can just be a doting Grandmother and Mother at this point!

Congratulations Edie!

You should relax and enjoy for now. Just make sure there is plenty of food and water available for mom and dad.

Pigeon parents have all the equipment and tools to do the job just right! Sit back and enjoy the grandkids for now, for soon you will be cleaning up lots of baby poop!

Heh, my pigeons have recently had a growth in population too. What I do to stop them from becoming too many is replace their eggs. Dunno if you have these where ever you are. But we have somthing called a "yowie" or a "kinder suprise" it's a chocolate egg with a toy inside. What I do is, take the plastic egg the toy is inside, and then pop some grit inside the egg and pop it under the pigeon. They sit on it for a while, and are quite happy with it. However mine have been getting cheeky and laying dud eggs and then after the 2nd one lay a third which is the real egg they wanna lay, then I do not notice and it hatches. So I do frequent checks. It's been working since 1997 though! So I got a few years over them!

Congrats on the babys, some say they are ugly when they are young. But I think they are soooo cute!
