baby bird formula

my mom read a page said you can use dog food for food for a short time. She was wondering if she could use Fritzy cat food. And do you need to feed them grit w/it.

What age of pigeon are we talking about here? If it is a tiny baby, human baby cereal with some meat based baby food or hard boiled egg yolk mixed in would be a better choice. If nothing else is available then soaked and softened dry dog or cat food can be used and small pieces of it fed by hand. Real baby bird formula is the best choice as soon as you can get some.
Do you have a baby pigeon that needs to be hand fed?

Thank you for helping the mommy pigeon to feed her babies

You didn't mention how old the baby pigeon is. Check out Baby Sara's pictures on the first page of this website, and let us know.

You can get baby bird formula like Exact at most pet stores.

If the baby is older then 14 days you can soak small pigeon seeds and feed that to them carefully. You can also use soaked puppy chow. You don't need to feed grit to the babies at this time.

Let us know how they are doing. Thank you

the babies are doing good. We hot baby bird formula and were feeding them some seeds. They are starting to peck out them by the end of the week they should be eating by themselves.
