Best way to wash when pigeon has lice and a broken wing? The pigeon that I just found has a broken wing which I set last night. I also found lice on the pigeon so I would like to give it a bath in borax, (which I read from a previous post is good to use) and use the lice spray. I need some advice though, as I don't know if I should remove the bandage or keep it on. When the bandage is removed, his wing hangs oddly and I don't want it to be in pain, but with the bandage on, I don't know if the solution will be able to get under the wing. The bandage is a self adhering cloth sports bandage, and the package says it can get wet and dry. But what do you think?

The "most" important thing at this time is the wing, suggest you leave the bandage on.

liceLee here,
Carl is right i feel, the wing first and then other things all in good time. You can dust a little sevin powder on the bird and the lice will leave the bird do this in a box and outside if possible just put the bird in the box and shake a little sevin powder on your hand and rub into the feathers under the wings and all over .. you can get the 5% sevin powder in a garden store .wallmart, lowes etc . try not to get it into the eyes or in the birds mouth and dont breathe the powder in your lungs in large amounts ... good luck |
