Birdie and Kookie-Proud Parents(as usual)Hello Everyone,
Just a quick note to let you all know that the first egg was hatched Dec. 22, 2000 and the second egg was hatched Dec. 23, 2000. The first egg was large and so is the little lady that came out. She already has white feathers coming in on her wings. The second egg was smaller and so is the little fellow that has come out. He has sprouts. What is different about this set is that they are extremely more docile, or should I say trusting of me. Maybe I shoud say more tame. I always thought that when the babes were being fed, that it was partially digested food. Kind of like a milky mash. But it's not. I feed all my pigeons a pigeon feed. Birdie and Kookie will drink as much water as they can. Eat a bunch of food. Pause for a burp break. More water, and more food. Then with what sounds almost like a mating calling; will approach their chirping, jumping at them, young and regurgitate water and whole seeds. When you pick up one of the babies you can see the whole seeds sitting inside them. These little pigeons are doing beyond well. Darby has laid eggs. However, I will be removing them because she and Sidney aren't really good parents. Plus I suppose for right now, Eight is enough. No pun intended. |
