A rice paddy is a place where rice is grown. If you do a Google search on "rice paddy" you will find lots of links and pictures.

Thanks. I read about a whole bunch of things that were good for pigeons, and Brown rice was one of them.

I also heard brown rice was bad for pigeons. What's up with that?

Hi Taylor,

I totally forgot to get back to this thread. Brown rice (Paddy) is simply brown rice that has been unmilled and unpolished. The husk is still intact and provides nutrients because of this. Rice without it's husk, is basically useless nutrients. The vitamins in the rice are contained in the husk like most things; apple skin, potato skin etc etc. Funny, these are usually the parts that people don't seem to like and where the REAL vitamins are

According to my rice source , you are incorrect. The hull itself only provides fiber. The polishing, is what removes the "good stuff".

Robin, at the below website, is an expert on rice. Their farm supplies my birds with the absolute best rice, money can buy.

Ok Warren,

You're a regular living and breathing Oxymoron then perhaps Ok, ask your "rice expert". However, there is really not much to knowing about simple grains and where their nutrients are contained
