i think one of my hens is egg bound, any advice on what to do? she laid her first egg 3 days ago. her back end seems to be buffed up like she's trying to pass the egg.

You should get her to a vet!

But to help her, give her some calcium (that will help the muscles) and put her on a heat pad.

Whatever you do, don't break the egg!

If there is a delay on the vet trip, and if the bird is comfortable being handled, a warm bath may help.

Here is what my rehabber does, na dit is very successful.

Get a dropper and fill it 1" wide, with olive oil and desperse way back in the throat behind the tounge. Make sure to avoid the breathing hole.

This worked with my one 3 year old hen. But time is of the essence, do it right away!
Be gentle when handling her, and isolate her in small basket, and put on heating pad.

ATTENTION:

The above measure of olive oil, by no means, replaces the trip to the vet.

The olive oil lubricates the tract and helps loosens the egg so it can be expelled.

Sorry about that..and the spelling..

Your first post seemed to indicate she was strugling. Though pigeons usually do two they may do one or three. Or you could look closely around the nest area or below. The safest plan is a trip to the vet and, if not, watch her very closely for a while.
