Eggs

Hello, My Pigeon pair are now the proud parents of an Egg. They take turns siting on the Egg regularly and are very protective of it. I was wondering if there was anything I need to know to make sure the egg hatches, or if anyone had any tips from previous experience? The egg fell out of their nest once and i put it back in . They still sit on it but, should I have touched it? How long does it take an egg to hatch. Do I need to remove the baby pigeon once it hatches so they don't kill it?
