Finding ThreadsSomeone made an excellent suggestion that hopefully will be considered. I'm only acting as the messenger.
There have been numerous posts made over the past that addressed a variety of pigeon problems. They are excellent teaching tools prepared by very experienced people. There is a problem in that when they are needed for reference, nobody can find them. They are buried in different threads pushed back way into the past. If someone remembers the topic and where the posts are, they are sometimes bumped up as needed. The emergency section on the front page of this site contains only URLs for where information might be obtained. Wouldn't it be more effective if all these excellent posts be permanently positioned in that area and arranged by category? As an example, many people do not know that Flagy is not only an antiparasitic for canker but is also an antibiotic for gut infections. Baytril, an antibiotic hailed as covering virtually everything, is a drug that does not address anaerobic bacteria. What site in the emergency section would give that vital piece of information? Thanks for considering this suggestion. [This message has been edited by fred130 (edited May 10, 2004).] |

I cut and paste the good stuff into word docs in a Pigeon folder for use on demand, but Fred's idea would be great to provide general access to everyone quickly. A variation on this theme is to have a symptom keyword that is connected to the best threads that exist on it. Wish I was a programmer (well, not really).

Hello,
That is a great idea Fred! I also cut the important stuff and email it to myself to store in my inbox. Mary

Hi Mary,
I hope you're well. Putting them into one place now is a very good idea but Carl has to approve this. |

Hello Carl,
This is a wonderful idea. Emergency is the most critical and should be addressed immediately. Also, there is a tremendous amount of information on step by step training for young homing pigeons that should be made available for quick referrence. I don't know how many times I've had to re-address that issue as well as good maintenance (nutrition) programs for pigeons. Thank you. Treesa
