Frizzle Gets A Friend

Hi Everyone,

Well, Frizzle the young pigeon mentioned in the Very Early/Late Baby just got a friend this afternoon. A local vet clinic called to see if I would take in a baby pigeon that had been brought to them. Of course, I did. Haven't named this one yet.

It is much younger than Frizz and was totally running on empty when I got it. The clinic had fed a "whole" 3cc this morning at 8AM and nothing since. The baby is feathered out but definitely still a hand feeding little one. Said baby easily and quickly downed 18cc when I fed it on intake.

Frizz's new friend was found in a HUGE parking lot in Costa Mesa. I got the written report from the clinic that the rescuer wrote... "Found at CAVALCO parking lot at 17th & Placentia, Costa Mesa CA. Came right up to me without hesitation. Looked hungry and lost. Did not want the bird to get run over or something so drove the bird straight to the clinic." This person drove the baby pigeon about 15 miles to do this and should get an award.

Here is another project for us all ... providing information to those vet clinics who are kind enough and willing to take in baby pigeons. A little flyer or pamphlet about what to feed, how much to feed, how to feed, warmth, who to call to take the bird and raise it, etc. would be wonderful. Anyone interested in taking on such a project?

Hey Terry, that sounds like a very good idea & it is right up my alley. I am a graphic designer in a medium sized print shop so I do pamphlets and brochures all day long. Lets get some details together and I'll see if I can get it printed up for cheaper than retail, I bet I can.

Hi Brian,

That would be great if you and your print shop could help on a pigeon pamphlet for veterinary offices. I'll start putting some info together for you, and let's see what we can come up with.

Thanks!
