Jason,

What do you mean by the above? Are they outside? I hope you have a predator proof coop for them...

Robert & Jason,

We know you are trying your best, and that you are not hurting the birds on purpose.

We know you rescued these babies from death.
I just want to thank you for saving their lives. Are the new babies in a safe little coop, where the hawks can't get to them?

I also thought you should have your flock checked out by a rehabber before you add the young ones. It is just a precaution.

I myself saved 4 youngsters from being "destroyed" as the owner put it, because they didn't have racing bands.

I have kept them seperate from my flock and put them in a playpen for a few weeks, so they could be hand fed and so I could keep my eye on them. They have also been allowed to practice their flying in an enclosed porch, to protect them from hawks. Hawks not only kill the young when they are trying to get their flying skills together, but put babies who survive thru psychological stress that takes them months to get over.

The babies are now in the coop with the older pigeons, and adjusting well.

Hope your babies are fine, keep us posted.

Treesa

Hi Robert,

That is great that you are able to teach them how to fly in a safe area. Thank you for tending to the needs of these youngsters.

It would also be good if you can get them vaccinated for PMV and Paratyphoid before they fly outside with the group.

Will bump this up for someone in your part of the world to help identify the band #.
Scottish band # SUO4ML4980.
