Is this a bird you have had for awhile or a new one?

It may be molting, may have a bad case of mites, may have been attacked by something. Hard to say without a little more information. Aside from the loss of feathers, is it showing any signs of illness? Is it eating and drinking normally? Are the feces normal looking?

My white homers are molting badly this year on the head/neck. I'm inclined to think it's molting this time of year. Anyway of showing us a picture?

I was worried when one of my pigeons all of a sudden had a whole bunch of feathers missing on the side of his head, but it turned out that he was just moulting.

Is you pigeon indoors or out?

What does the skin underneath look like? Can you see new feathers starting? It's probably moulting. My Indian fantail moulted so heavy, he was almost bald, with just a few feathers sticking up on the back of his head. Looked kind of funny actually. He still thought he was the hottest thing in the coop, though.

Hi birdlover000,

My white pigeons seem to be losing a lot of feathers at once. Some of my birds have been moulting all over and some seem to have one spot concentrated on their head that just looks so terrible! If everything else looks fine, the poop, the appetite, etc.)as others have asked, it may be just a bad case of moulting. Look close and see if there is new growth coming in. Treesa
