Herc's sleeping habits

I was just wondering - Hercules will not go to sleep until I do. No matter what the time is, he stays up till I go to sleep. Even if I put him in a darkened room, he still won't go to sleep. I thought pigeons were supposed to go to sleep when the sun goes down or when it gets dark.

But Herc doesn't know he's a pigeon, so that theory won't work *snigger snigger*

I was wondering what time everyone's pigeons go to sleep..Maybe everyone could post alittle info about the time their pet pigeon(s) go to sleep?

My Tooty goes to sleep at sunset and wakes up at dawn...

I never allow him to stay up except when the fire truck is here in a false alarm and my room is filled with the lights from the truck and that scarres him so I keep him up until they are gone

My pet pigeon goes to bed around 11:00 p.m. and gets up at 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning. I loosely cover his cage at night, but like Herc, he won't actually hop up onto his perch and go to sleep until I do. He usually tells me it's time to get up in the morning by making a low hooting sound. Who needs an alarm clock when you have a pigeon?

I'm living on a 3rd shift schedule. So, my pigeons go to their cage at around 5AM, give or take. They don't come out of their cage until I get back up, even though others in the house might be up. This is probably why they sleep a lot through out the day time.
