Is it bath time yet?I have a young pigeon, a month old (maybe). I tried to attach a picture but the file is too big. Not a clue on how to change that.
Anyway, I think this pij needs a bath. Not sure if he wants a bath. Is this little guy is too young? He is a feral that showed up about 2 weeks ago. He still has some bald spots. Should I put a bath bowl in his cage and see if he is interested? |

Hi kippy,
Given the fact you said that you've had the bird for 2 weeks already means he/she is at LEAST 2 weeks old now. Pigeons LOVE water and bathing (especially young ones getting new feathers). Offer them a bath and see what they do. They might just poke about or make little splashes but they will soon take more interest. Just ALWAYS remember to keep a close watch on young birds in water. Inexperience can be fatal. Brad |

Hi Kippy,
Just to add to Brad's good advice, if the bird seems doubtful about bathing, a little spray from a fine mister might be good for him. Help get his water resistance starting. If you want to reduce a pic to posting file size, you are welcome to send it to me as email attachment at pidgie@globalnet.co.uk and I will compress it and rturn John |
