Im just woundering does any one know that when the first egg is layed do the pigeons have to mate again for the second to be fertilized or do they do all the mating a few days bfore the eggs are to be layed?

Mine usually lay the two eggs from all the mating before both eggs were laid.
The hens usually spend their time staying close to the first egg, or on it before the 2cnd one is laid.

Actually they do have to mate between the two eggs being laid. A second egg will come, but for it to be fertile, they must mate again. I believe the mating must occur within 24 hours of the egg being laid. That's why sometimes you will get a clear egg out of the two. Especially in a loft setting where someone is always trying to break up the mated pair during the mating process.
