LAPC Young Bird Show

If any Southern California list members are interested, the Los Angeles Pigeon Club is holding its annual Young Bird Show on Sunday, September 15, 2002 in Irvine Park. Entries open at 10:00 AM and close at 12:00 noon that day. I am sure there will be some very interesting birds to see, and I hope to be able to attend.

Irvine Park is approx. 6 miles east of the City of Orange in Santiago Canyon. You can take the 55 freeway to Chapman East and then to Jamboree and turn left. Or from the 5, exit at Jamboree and go north until you reach the park entrance.

We plan to be there. But we don't know what to expect. Should we bring our young birds? Or do we just look at other people's birds? Can we buy young birds? How young counts as young?

Well, since I've never been to one of these shows myself, I can't tell you much for certain other than what I read on the flyer that came with the newsletter.

You don't have to be a member of the LAPC to enter your birds in the show; entries are being accepted between 10AM and 12:00 noon; there are 10 trophies to be awarded; a giant raffle; and free lunch for paid up members.

As to buying birds, I am sure there will be literally hundreds of birds available for sale during the show.

My understanding of the term "young bird" is one hatched in the current year .. a 2002 bird. Hopefully a more knowledgeable member can correct this if I am wrong and I do believe there is a fairly recent post on the subject.
