Laying problems

Hi my pigeons wont lay eggs. Well they sorta do. For some pairs it takes months, others lay during the time of sitting the young and 1 pair just dont lay. The hen is in egg but for some reason wont lay eggs.
p.s. i know its too late to bread but i want one last round as my pigeons have already moulted.

Hi Simon,

I'm sorry to hear your hens aren't laying eggs. You ought to come over here, my coop is loaded every day, I wish they would stop. If pigeon eggs were a delicacy I would be rich.LOL

Anyway, since you have more then one hen that is having this problem I would check the nutrition first. Make sure your pigeons are getting a balance int their diet. Are they getting a well rounded pigeon seed mix? Are they getting a multi vitamin for pigeons in their water or seed? Do they have access to pigeon pick cake as well as grit? Do they get Brewers yeast and garlic once a week in the seed? There are also a number of mineral preparations avialable with iodine to help boost the minerals and micro minerals in their diet specially made for pigeons. Always be careful to give exact doses.

Are your pigeons allowed to have spinach and other greens once a week? Do you do seasonal maintenance with a product like Globals multi-mix for canker, cocci and worms?

I also would recommend you don't breed them this year until this problem is resolved. If your birds need the nutrition, take care of it, and next year you will have healthy babies.
