Males are usually aggresive, and are bossy, and display a thicker neck then the female. They will walk around cooing and doing a 360 degree dance for the females, while fanning out their tail and sweeping with it.They are likely to go after a newcomer and peck at it to chase it away. It is quite interesting to watch. The newcomer won't be so aggresive, at first, but once he has been around a while he or she will show its gender. Females are usually more passive and don't have such a thick neck. However, there is always an exception to the rule. I have a female who is aggresive and pecks at other pigeons, but she does not do the dance. If you are able to observe them for a while, you will be able to figure it out. Treesa
