Hi Taylor,

Yes, you are still just a bit too young to be a moderator here. You can sure act like one though by trying to help everyone you can by answering their questions and offering your advice.

We are most happy to have you as a member here and do appreciate all your input to the board!

I have a feeling even sometimes the moderators get stumped. It never ceases to amaze me how much there is to learn and attempt to remember about not only pigeons, but all animals. I don't think there's a single time I talk to a pigeon guy(or girl) and don't learn something new.

Hi Matt,

As moderators, we don't know everything, we get stumped all the time too We are here for other reasons as well than just giving advice or suggestions. I agree with you though, there is always something to learn here from others

Hi Taylor,

Another consideration is that as a "lay helper", you aren't obliged to certain time spots when moderating must be covered. You are able to pop in and out at will without commitment. Once committed as an official moderator, I'm sure certain time spots would need to be filled. Also, consider that it is not just pigeon information that you would need to be up on, but also the rules of the posting board, how best to convey these policies if you feel they are being ignored intentionally or due to lack of awareness/understanding, and in general people skills, people skills and more people skills.

Best,

fp

Oh Life Lessons. People skills is one of the hardest things to learn. Especially when "the customer is always right" AND THEY AREN'T.

Thumbs up

Thanks!

Brad you are too humble! You folks that have been bestowed the Moderator postion certainly do have a great responsibilty insuring that all members are posting within the guidelines established by the powers of Pigeon Talk.com not to mention the endless problems and questions that arisefrom members old and new alike.

I never really thought about it much until I read feralpigeons posting about the times moderators are required to fill in. It has got to be one tough burden sometimes to carry on their "wings".

Thank you Moderators for making this site a pleasant and informative one.

Hi Victor & All,

Thank you for your nice comments Yes, being a moderator is not always easy and sometimes quite frustrating actually. There are some behind the scenes things to do as well. We're lucky that there is a good number of us and at any given time, one of us is usually around if needed.

I feel that all of us moderators are very lucky as well. There are times when none of us are around and members like yourself are here to offer advice to new members posting with problems, emergencies or perhaps they've just found this site and need a friendly ear. Sometimes a poster is just looking for a little reassurance or some quick tips and so many of you folks are right there to assist, encourage and welcome.

There are too many names to mention of all the members here that do a fine job of helping in so many ways in the forums. Thanks to all the wonderful members here in Pigeontalk as well

I just must add that if I ever see a competition for best site or most informative or helpful, I would put this one in. the moderators have been so kind and responsive to this one little pigeon on my balcony, it's unbelievable. and it's made a difference in my life. i am much more interested in birds now and feel a connection to them i didn't before. just tonight, while walking my dog, i saw a baby crow on the grass, and it wasn't flying away, i went up and it let me pat its head so something must be wrong. i gave it some wild bird seed and now i don't know what to do. but this is not a crow site, and i don't think in fact i'm sure they're not as nice as pigeons, but i still feel badly. in the morning i hope i can have someone from the bird store up the street come and help.
ANYWAY! my point is, the moderators here are amazing, and so are all the other individuals who write in to give you assistance or a thoughtful remark. you don't feel stupid writing, because someone responds to you in a timely manner. i'm truly impressed and my heart has been warmed by discovering this site, so i am thankful to the little pigeon who made its home on my balcony.
and brad, i think you are being too humble, you are the one who wrote back to me so quickly and guided me through my little pigeon crisis in a very kind and insightful way.
goodnite!

Hi Patricia,

Thank you very much for your comments and I'm glad that you have found the forum to be helpful.

Many of us here have grown up all our lives having a fascination with pigeons and/or having them most of our years. It goes to show us all that we're never too old to become acquainted with pigeons and see them in a completely new light

Regarding this crow...do you have the baby in your care right now? There are a few of us here that have working knowledge and hands on experience with crows so if you could post more details, we might be able advise you.

"Other Birds "...Discussions about...

Yes Patricia Feralpigeon is absouluely right!!! PigeonTalk does indeed have a section devoted to "other birds" in this discussion forum. Many of us do experience situations with other birds from time to time. It is a very informative place to visit even if you do not have an injured "other specie".

Re the moderators. I don't know how they are chosen but whoever does the "choosing" does a terrific job. Being on this forum has helped us tremendously.
Even tho we may have been rehabbing 12 years, I constantly learn new things everyday.

You moderators really know your stuff ! And, you are so very nice and conscientious. I appreciate everything you do.
