You're welcome for the "welcome"
. I don't have any experience with any birds who have acted strangely the way you described, but I am going to bring this topic to the top so that more experienced members can answer your concerns. I just wanted the problem you're having to be a bit more clarified. |

Thank you for being a part of helping these little babies...and welcome.
First of all...could you please click on the photos of "Baby Sarah" and compare the pictures with your friend's babies. How old do you think they are? This is very important, because they may be too young to eat themselves, and may need to be fed and provided with extra warmth. Please let us know as soon as you can, so that we can help you with the next steps. I don't think their behavior is odd for newly rescued babies...when no one is around, they will be squeaking and hollering for food and the warmth from a Mom or Dad that is no longer there...when there is a preceived threat, most baby birds are very quiet and still, so as not to attract attention to themselves. I agree with wilddove, are you feeding them and what are you feeding them. Be sure to keep them warm and in a secluded area.

Start by clicking on the "Resources" link, right of center, at the top of this page.
You need to do this fairly quickly, and follow the suggestions given there. These are the basics--lets begin there. I will e-mail you pics of a juvenile pigeon (compare them with Baby Sara's pics), to help you decide what you've got here... I hope you're serious and not screwing around here. You should know that pigeons nearly always, have at most, two babies... --Ray |

Before anything else, be sure they drink water. Birds can survive a while without food, but if they don't have enough water, like any other living creature, they can get quite sick and even die rather soon. Try pushing the beaks into the water gently. Don't hold it there very long. Just long enough for the beak to get wet. Then the bird will lick the water off his own beak and hopefully like it and come back for more.

While each pigeon is unique and may start eating and drinking on its own at a different time, most will be able to do this at three weeks of age or a little earlier. You really need to try to get some idea of how old the babies are. Do they have feathers yet? Do they have feathers under their wings? Do they still have little yellow fuzzy feather sprouts? You absolutely MUST be feeding them if they are not eating on their own.
Please get back to us with some more information. Terry Whatley |

"Please answer me soon bye e-mailing me at..."
This is a forum and people learn from it. It also saves people from duplicating information needlessly, by showing the whole thread. E-mailing you directly does not afford that. Conversely, if information that is required cannot be displayed here, it only makes sense to send it your way--like the juvenile pijjy pics I sent you. You're welcome, by the way. --Ray |
