I read the post, but I didn't get the part about the humidity, am I supposed to keep it on a wet towel?

If you have the heat adequate and it doesn't fluctuate too much, then introduce a small dish of warm water in the egg box. The water will vaporize and keep the egg moist. You may do a fine spray of warm water once a day for the same purpose.

Definitely don't place it on a wet towel.

thanks for the help, could anyone tell me how long it will take for the egg to hatch?
and could it have been damaged from staying alone for a day?

Hi Dune,

The incubation time for pigeon eggs is approximately 18 days. It's hard to say whether the egg is still viable or not. You'll know within a few days .. if you see veins in the egg and an embryo starting, then you're good to go.

Thumbs up

Hi everyone,
I checked the egg and found small red veins in a circle with a small red blob in the middle, I think its the embryo, am so excited about this, am keeping it next to my bed so I can keep on eye on it, I really appreciate that you took the time to answer my questions, by the way my name is Rula.
I’ll let you know when it hatches

good Rula - it's due around the 9th of June. Try to be consistent with the heat, moisture, and turning, but stop turning around the 5th. we can talk about the feeding and first critical two days sometime before then.

Hello and thank you for your interest in this developing egg.

Since you have some time before the baby hatches, let me give you my best advice:

First of all, it is extremely difficult to hand raise a hatchling. Many have tried, but failed. Even the most experienced people will tell you this.

Second, this is a serious undertaking, tedious, time consuming, because I know,I've raised 4 day old babies.

Third, Do yourself and this baby a great favor and find someone who has pigeons, with a breeding pair, who have eggs about to hatch around June 9th, ( a few days difference is okay). Check around, you have time, and everyone is breeding this time of year.

Let the pigeon couple hatch and raise it, as long as they will, the chances of survival greatly increase after the baby has 3 days of pigeon milk.

Yes it is a beautiful experience, and I'm glad for you, but pigeon parents have all the right equipment for hatching and feeding the newborns....God gave it to them.
