Question about spraying for lice

I am wondering...when I spray Bob (he had feather lice) I am careful follow the directions and cover his head. Will the feather lice then just move from his body to his head to escape the spray? Should I put a little on my finger and pet it onto his head or would that be bad??

I haven't noticed that his head is itchy or anything, I just want to make sure he is getting everything he needs.

I always spray my birds following the instructions and they always get rid of the "guests".
I don't think it is necessary to put the spray on the head.
Only when I had heavily infested birds, I had to spray twice several days apart.
