Rehab/Necropsy Training

This was a topic raised in the thread titled Fred's Latest Pigeon. I am posting it separately in case there are members who would be interested in such training but did not follow the original posts.

The following is a link to the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council's website for the training page:

http://www.iwrc-online.org/training.html

For any members who are truly interested in learning about rehabilitating birds and/or animals, these are great classes. They are a bit pricey depending upon the class ($100.00+) especially if you are not an IWRC member, but are well worth the money and the manuals are invaluable.

You must take the 1AB class before attending any of the advanced seminars, and I can tell you that there is a lot of reading, a lot of homework, a final test, and you will need to have access to a calculator that can do logarithms. This is a two day seminar and the entire second day is "hands on" lab work. Not for the faint hearted.

I have taken the 1AB, Fluid Therapy, and Wound Management, and will take all the others if and when they are available in my area. There is one specifically for necropsy.

If you scroll down the page, you will see where and when the classes are available as well as a brief description of each.

Howdi~ I took the 2 classes (IWRC) in 1990, and take every class available on Wildbird Rehab. I received my State and Federal License 3 years ago, and I am affilliated with numerous Wildlife Rescue Associations. My life is dedicated completely to the work of Wildbird Rescue and Rehab. It has been the MOST REWARDING thing I have ever done. Sometimes it is heartbreaking, but when someone brings you wounded birds, and you fix-em-up, and then they get well, it is the best thing in the world. Babie season is great, Raising babies is my favorite.....DIET and NUTRITION Knowledge is a MUST>>>>> (Pigeons and Doves are my favorite to raise. LOVE IT~~~~~
