Rochester and Mr. Enya Pictures!

Here are pictures of my little guys. They are seriously engaged in playing house these days. Neither one of them have a girl friend prospect, so they've formed one of those new civil unions you've been hearing so much about.

They've got a nest going and are pretty dedicated to it! Mr. Enya gets night nest duty and day nest duty (rough life?) And Rochester, being larger, I guess, gets to go around and gather all the stuff for the nest. He must ask me 10 times a day if I have anything I can donate to their cause.

I've moved Percey (formerly Fred) into the aviary upstairs, a dedicated small bed room, for the birds. My new European Starling is in there too and Percy seems quite happy to have "moved up in the world". I wasn't spending enough time with her in her room in the basement. She's gotten MUCH better, but still not looking like she's anywhere near flying. It's been since mid-November, I'm wondering if she's just had a brain injury instead of a virus all along???? Wouldn't she be past any virus symptoms by now? She still circles sometimes, twists her neck some, and flaps her wings pretty hard, one is less extended than the other, but other PMV pigeons I've read about would be flying by now, wouldn't they?

Anyway, anything anyone can add to that querry, please do so, and check out the pix at:

choose the 2nd album: "Rochester and Mr. Enya"

Thanks,
Stacey

Neat photos! Glad to see Mr. Enya healed so nicely. He's looking great now!

Hi Stacey,
so birds are so beautiful.
I have a bird with PMV since October 6 and he is stiil not flying, even though he tries so hard. I guess it can take a long time before they fly again.

Reti,

Another question I have about PMV is if you or anyone else with a suspected PMV pigeon actually knows that's what it has, via some sort of test? Is there a reasonably cheap way to find out? I'd like to know so I can manage my other birds with this one.

Percy is acually continuing to make improvements all the time. She's perching more now, on me and on a thing in her room and sleeping on that most of the time. She'll still tumble head over heels occasionally while chasing someone in the room with her, and she still pecks at single seeds with little to no success.

Do you know how long PMV is being shed from a sick bird so that another bird could catch it?

Thanks,
Stacey
