Site SuggestionI have been going through this site lately, and would like to congratulate Carl and his team for coming up with such a wonderful site. But as always, there is always room for improvement !
![]() I have noticed that this forum, more often than not, has a wealth on information which can be very useful for pigeon newbies (like me.) So how about you gather up information from some reallllly good posts, and create a page with all the questions and answers to which people would normally ask. I think this would be a great idea! Your suggestion is a good one. We have been thinking along these lines for sometime now. We plan to do this in the near future.
Thanks for your participation and suggestions. Regards, Carl |

Point well taken. While the forum is discussion driven, there really should be a "fast track" link to issues regarding treatment of injuries, etc.
If you click on the "pigeon on crutches" icon on the home page, you will get much of the necessary information needed to care for a pigeon, young or old. It covers some emergency measures, nutritional needs, and proper environment. As Carl says, an expanded version is in the works, but as planned, it was not the accumulated posts of our members--though the idea certainly has merit. I'm not the e-guru for this site, so I do not know exactly what would be implied or required to have, say, a search engine that would pull up material from key words or phrases. I think that would be very neat! The main thing, though, is to help pigeons and the people that love them, with the right information for the situation at hand. Remember, members have varying levels of skill and ability--because that's how people are! ![]() I had discussed a two tiered care & medical section with one of our chief advisors. It would offer two levels of pigeon care: Novice & Advanced. Like I say, while we want to provide needed information, and quickly, the object is not to provide and "e-book" to read, but rather an "active forum" in which pigeon folk could participate. At any rate, right you are! This area could stand improvement! Please Note: Racing Season is nearly upon us. There will be many posts from people finding lost, banded pigeons. Nearly all will want to help their little visitors! The first order of busines will be the survival of the pigeon. The next will be locating the owner and "asking" if they want the pigeon back. We could use a few extra diligent souls to acquaint themselves with the AU & CU websites and band identification systems. The link for the American Racing Pigeon Union Website is: http://www.pigeon.org/ The CU site for our friends in Canada can be accessed via the AU site. Both have been very cooperative in locating the owners of lost pigeons whose bands aren't listed, or where information is incomplete. PIGEONS FOREVER!!! --Ray |

The direct link to the CU is:
http://www.execulink.com/~crpu/index1.html To find the contact person for the clubs, you have to go to "Information", and then "Lost and Found". Unfortunately, this only lists the "personalized" club bands, not the regular CU bands. And, the CU office does not have an email address. If anyone finds a bird with a CU band on it, I will gladly help find the owner, and try and have the bird returned to its home. Although the CU website doesn't have regular band lists, our annual yearbook does, so it isn't difficult to trace a bird (we do it all the time with "strays" that come here) [This message has been edited by WhiteWingsCa (edited March 21, 2002).] |
