So disgusting...............................First of all, before I post this, let me say..........I AM CONTACTING E-BAY and having this auction removed from their site as it is illegal, but........I wanted to know if anyone knows if what this person has done is illegal and if there is anything that can be done. As long as the auction is on E-Bay, he can be contacted/found, but once they remove it and they will remove it, no one will ever know who or where this person is. And we wonder what happens to our poor babies when they don't return home after doing so many times before. So sad......check out this link. It's very disturbing, but if something can be done about this, it should be done. I just don't know what to do, other than having the auction removed which doesn't keep this person from continuing to kill/maim pigeons, whether they be ferals or racers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...EBWA%3AIT&rd=1

OMG! I hope this cretin gets sued by the owner of this bird and for mega, mega, mega bucks. How totally awful. Have you already gotten in touch with e-Bay to have this removed?
I am tempted to want to start an e-mail "war" with this pitiful excuse for humanity but fear that would only serve to fuel his cruelty and ignorance. Terry |

OMG!! is right!
That is one sick, pathetic excuse for a human. I have never visited E-bay so I have no idea how it works but I'm sure they have a register of each vendor & my guess would be the vendor can be located by the item number. If you haven't already done so, I would jot that number down, just in case it can be used to trace this SOB. Cindy

He shot a pigeon and is tring to make extra bucks by selling the band. Nothing wrong with that. It is illegal to take a band of a bird alive or dead. Ask him to take it off and to report the band to a government official. Please I hate it when people lose thier heads. Consider that the bird died a painless death. It died before he cut the foot. It would be much more painful if a cat or hawk got it.

No no I do. Hes hunting birds. I keep pet crayfish. Everytime I turn on a cooking channel or go to red lobster they're throwing my fav. pet into a pot. II just understand that it is not my pet. If I could I would stop this. I've hunted pigeons before although I never got one. I grew up in South Carolina. This my change my mind. I recently moved up to Vancouver. Talk about a culture shock. People killing does with fawns and mother ducks with ducklings. Makes me sick. Back home you can't shot a female of any species during breeding season. I understand this was someones pigeon. But by racing a pigeon your essentially throwing a cage bird to fly 600 miles home with hawks and people along with other predators. Its a risk you take. If this is wrong plz. explain to me.

Hawks fly, people don't. Agreed, racing fanciers do take a risk everytime they release a pigeon to compete in a race. I believe hawks are natural predators, however, a human has no business intentionally killing a pigeon, absolutely none. To intentionally kill any pigeon is unacceptable, no matter what. To intentionally kill a person's racing pigeon is destroying private property. To intentionally kill a person's racing pigeon & display it on the Internet, as this low life did, is criminal & should be dealt with as a criminal matter. Cindy

Well, I do see something wrong with this. VERY wrong, as far a trying to make an extra buck, that sick guy should pick up cans or something...come on, if you need to kill to "make bucks" then as far as I am concerned, you are missing the point in this life. Really, I wish more people would protect critters, and not harm them. That WAS someones pet, but regardless, "owned" or not, the animals do have feelings. If you do not belive this, then you have not bonded with your animals. Crayfish, may make it harder for you to see this. Try something that shows affection to you maybe?
& that should be illegal, killing females during breeding season, I do not know how they can do such a thing. Humans, got in our heads somewhere, that we can do whatever we wish here & it's our right. Don't get me wrong, I am all for humane hunting, IF it is to feed your family, as needed. Hunting should not be for sport. [This message has been edited by hank (edited May 19, 2004).] |

My crayfish show affection. Everytime I put my hand in the tank they're all over it. Let me ask......do you fish? Its the same as hunting. Bass are extremly smart and in fact I think the only reason they bite the hook is cause their pissed. I have seen racing pigeons fly and from as far away as this guy was with the bird up against the sun or clouds I can't tell the difference. What I meant buy extra bucks was he shot this pigeon for whatever reason and then to try and make money he sells the bands. Its better to educate people then to yell and send dirty mean letters. Now that ya'll have pissed this man off he may shot any pigeon he sees just to show us he can. Send a nice letter explaining why this is wrong and politly ask him to stop shooting racing pigeons.

Sorry, but I don't agree. he put a picture of a foot on the site....not just a band. Nobody is that ignorant...just mean.I used to fish when I was a kid, now I have fish in a pond, ones I take care of. My Husband sometimes goes fishing, without a barbed hook, and does not touch them & releases them. I still feel this hurts them, but it IS different then chopping off a Pigeons foot & putting it on a website. He was even upset. I don't think that man will change one way or the other...."oh, sir, that was not a nice thing to do" yea, right. Some people need a slap in the face (I don't mean you)
You are just saying your thoughts, same as I am. |

I, for one, knew exactly what you meant, but that certainly doesn't justify what he's doing. "Send a nice letter explaining why this is wrong and politly ask him to stop shooting racing pigeons." The only thing that should be explained to this person are his Miranda rights. Cindy

I would try a polite letter first. Fish do feel pain and I think all animals do. Have you ever bought a rabbits foot? Where do you think that came from?
