The Book Project: I Need To Hear From You!THE BOOK
Many of you have been invited by me to participate in a book project. Most have agreed. I have some remarkable submissions from Carl, Terri, Marjorie, Marian, Suzanne, Anne, Rod, Fred, and others. Many more of you agreed to participate long ago, but have yet to submit anything. A few of you have only recently been asked to join the project. Not long ago, I posted to this forum, asking for any new submissions. There wasn't one reply. With that, I'm closing any further opportunities to join the book project. I know some of you pretty well, in the e-sense of the word. Others, I hardly know at all--but am impressed with your knowledge, writing, or spirit. I NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU! Here's what I need from everybody involved, committed, or invited: Please send me e-mail with the Subject: I'm In! Include your proper name, with pen name, if you wish, and a working return e-mail address. From this I will compile a mailing list specifically for this project. Please, everybody, sign all correspondence—always (it helps me keep who’s who straight!). There will be general updates to the group of accepted authors, as well as interpersonal e-mails between authors and myself. I need this request to be complied with pretty quick. LIFE INTERRUPTED John Lennon wrote in a lullaby to his son, Sean, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." The usual struggles aside, this past calendar year has been hell for me. I've coped the best I know how. If those stresses surfaced from time to time, I regret it. As of Monday, God willing, I begin a new career (I better--I already bought a new car!), and between that, this book project, and the continued remodeling of this old house, my energies are heavily taxed. More importantly, I haven't spent nearly enough time with our resident pigeons! I’m reminded just recently, how short life can be… With that said, I'm resigning as moderator of this forum. Judy tenders her resignation as well. My recommendations for my successors will be e-mailed to the administrator and moderator staff shortly. Whatever contributions I may make, I can make as a member. FINAL THOUGHT The moderators enforce common sense rules to keep the quality high, knowing full well, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Nearly everybody is welcome! Pigeon-Talk is not about cliques, nor is it the e-equivalent of the typical and mundane social pecking orders seen at large in the world out there. How refreshing for a change! My wish continues to be that you keep things that way. This forum is about, and always has been about, pigeons and the people that love them. It is strongly biased to the humane treatment of the birds, with a special consideration for the feral pigeon. In addition to moderating, I enjoyed working on the new and improved Pigeons.com web site, and will look forward its continued evolution. Very best regards, Ray |

Ray,
We are sorry to see you leave the moderator position, we will miss you, but know that you will be watching and writing as time permits. Paying for that new car is a must, perhaps the book will help. Your contributions and efforts to make this a "pigeon" site for pigeon lovers has been invaluable, I will miss you personally. Good luck in the future, come back when ever you can. Regards, Carl |

Ray and Judy,
I'm not happy to see you go as a moderator. Pigeons.com is losing the best. Good luck with all of your future plans.

Hi Ray,
I remember you asking me for stories about life with Eggbert - it was a couple of years ago or so - and I did send you quite a few. Do you plan to still use these in the book? Or do I need to re-submit them? What will be the title of the book? FOWL PLAY? I'll be waiting for your reply as to what I need to do, if anything. DC |

Dear Ray and Judy,
I shall miss your no-holds-barred approach to moderating! You call 'em the way you see 'em, and I have a great respect for that. Hopefully, we will still enjoy your philosophical input from time to time, and I will personally have an embolism if there are no semi-regular updates on Bernie, Cosmo, and Aly! Good luck and best wishes to you both! Wild Dove |

Ray and Judy,
I am very sorry to see both of you leave as moderators. You have done a stellar job and your efforts are and have been greatly appreciated. I agree with the others, however .. you had better keep on posting and stay in touch! Terry Whatley |

I haven't been a member very long but I have started to like everyone, especially the moderators. I am sorry to see Ray and Judy go. Just hang around these boards as much as you can so we won't miss you as much! I am impressed by your moderator work and I am grateful for all the wonderful advice you gave me concerning Francis.
