This one still has some yellow feathers on its head. Any idea how old it is?

Also can someone tell me how to tell a male from female? Isn't like a difference in eye shape?

They all are Racing Homers that I can tell by the Pictures. The little Young Grizzle I'd say is about 24-25 days old.. As for Sex of birds, ya just have to watch them & learn, like after they lay eggs the Hen is always on the eggs at night. Too many ways to explain in writting for me...... Good Luck, Happy

There aren't too many breeds of homers per se that actually look different. What do you know about the birds' history? Where did they come from?

They came from a breeder about 30 minutes from me. He just has all of his birds together so he wouldn't know what breed it is. What do they look like to you?

I would tend to think, though, that the bird in the very top picture (mostly white) and the one in the very bottom picture (blue bar) are both hens. That's just a guess with a tad better than average (50-50) chance of being correct. Can't tell much of anything about the youngster, though.

I don't know that you'd classify homers into many different breeds. There are specific famous birds that have won major races (consistently) who almost become something considered as a breed apart. But, mostly, they're just "homers".

Here is a thread that addresses the question from a different angle and it might help you by providing keywords to go searching for pictures:

Yes I do that those two are hens and the other two are cocks. I just don't know the sex of the young one.

Well, don't feel bad for not knowing--most of the rest of us can't tell either until they've grown up a bit first and even then it's not very accurate until they start laying eggs or fandancing.

I see 2 pied hens 1 bluebar cock 1 dark blue check cock 1 silver hen. The young grizzle well it is just to young to be sure with out handling it With the head it has now I would go cock bird But then I could be wrong wait about 3 more months. and it will be easyer to tell by a picture. I would put the blue bar cock on the silver hen. You would get blues split for silver in the young cocks you raise. If you like the silver color. The first bird I can not swear it is full homer.

They all look like homers to me except for the first bird. I wouldn't think that's it's a full homer. Nice looking birds though. The little grizzle looks to be about 30 days old to me.
