Hi Frosty,
I would advise you to go slow in acquiring your breeding stock. Getting pigeons is the easy part. Getting rid of them when your loft is overcrowded or they're not winning or not healthy is the hard part. You should be a responsible pigeon caretaker. Each one of your pigeons is a very special creature and should be treated as winners no matter where they wind up on the race sheet. Forgive the sermon but I've seen more than a few get into racing pigeons quickly only to be disappointed because they're not winning or it's a lot of work. Then they're faced with the disposal of a lot of pigeons. I would suggest that you go slow and go small. Get only a few breeders - the best that you can afford. Raise a small race team. See if you really like the hobby and go from there. All the best. birdy |
