Question

Young Pigeon Help

My husband brought home a young pigeon a few days ago, it has one wing that slightly droops. My guess is that is broken. The vet is still out of town so heres my question. How long do I keep it wing taped to its tail?
He is eating and drinking very well. He is almost flying age.
Our pigeon family is growing yet again, a second young pigeon has been brought home. No injuries, just fell out of the nest and no way to put him back. He's full feathered but not real big. They fall out of the rafters where my husband works, and they usaully don't make it very long because of stupid people or the cats get them. Sorry to ramble.
Tiffany
PS thier names are Tornato and Twister

Thumbs up

Hello and thanks for saving the squeaker

I think it takes about 2-3 weeks for the bone to heal..

I've never cared for a bird with a broken wing so I hope someone will come along shortly to help you..

For now check out the "Resources" above for more info on feeding/housing.

Thanks for caring!

Mary

p.s Cute names

Here's a good site. Paratyphoid can also cause leg and wing paralysis. If not treated early with Sulpher type antibiotics, it can leave permanent damage. Is the poop normal? NOt runny? Here's info on wing injuries and how to do what for how long.

Keep us posted and give us as much info as possible.

Two weeks should be enough as Mary suggested. Can you give us an update?
Thanks,
Carl
