That is good news and bad news. Good that the tongue is not missing, so he won't have a disability to deal with the rest of his life.
Not good news though he has canker. Metronidazol is excellent in treating canker, you might want to stick with it. Also, I would recommend to treat all your birds, especially the parents of this baby and the birds who pecked him. Reti |

Ronidazole is kindest and more forgiveing dosage wise, for youngsters.
Metronidazole can O-D them pretty easily and give them a 'Frankenstein' walk and jerky movements and palsies... So, if useing the Metronidazole, do be careful to watch that the dosage is right for the Bird's weight vis-a-vie the amount of medication a tablet itself contains. Normally the dosage the packages outline are for full grown Birds, and youngsters of course weigh less, sometimes much much less of course. Keep him "warm" too...! Make him a 'Squeaker Warm House' even, or some arrangement with a Heating Pad and so on... Glad the Tongue is allright...! Real glad... Best wishes for a speedy recovery...! Phil Las Vegas |

i am glad your bird still has its tongue. now the healing process can begin on its canker i dont think any of my birds have had canker but still do treatment.
