I found A small wild bird (injured?)Hey, I found A small wild bird thats dark colored, And it was sitting a few feet away from me sitting there, while I was walking, I walked up to it and it flew but it only flew a couple feet and didnt fly very high at all... Also there was alot of bird feathers, in the yard he was in, So maybe it was attacked or there is a cat in the yard and didnt finish the kill? but the bird was dark blue/black colored and the feathers were like light blue... So should I pick him up and put him in a animal carrier and care for him for a while? Thanks!

oh..I thought you had the bird.. young blue birds are out of the nest this time of year and flutter about..I would leave him alone there..his parents are feeding him still and he is going to be flying well soon.

I do not know if he is safe..alot of them go ito the wrong back yards.. if you see him and can catch him and put him under a thick bush or in a tree it may help..but usually they find their way natrually.

If it is not a fledgling and you think it is injured I would recommend getting it. Try watching it for a while before trying to catch it to see if parents are near by, if it is limping, if you can see its wings drooping, any visible wounds ect. Watch its behavior before grabbing it to make a judgement call. It is baby season though so without pictures we can't really tell you from that description. Perhaps something had attacked it and it was still stunned. He might just need to regain his bearings a bit before being able to fly well enough.
