Prepared in Mesa.So I'm sitting here this morning with my ears out to the yard. I hear crows cawing, finches, starlings, wrens, woodpeckers, quail, several kinds of doves, and the famous wild Lovebirds of Mesa. (Peach faces get along and multiply quite well here. They are wicked fast and leaf-green so count yourself lucky if you actually SEE one.)
I've de-landscaped my yard so it has plenty of native plants in it, and I will be putting in more. The private, 6000 square foot area is a dog-free sanctuary for local birds. Many have come to graze in my yard and pick weed seeds. Having birds of my own has gained me a collection of rescue-useful items, that I probably won't have to use, but here we are prepared. I saw the mourning doves kissing outside yesterday. ![]() From the sounds of it, outside romance seems well underweigh.

Quote:
I have a feeling about that myself, so I had my palm trees trimmed. Pijes are looking for prime nesting spots. After last year and all the Thrushers falling out of their nest it was time for a palm tree shave. Now the woodpeckers are going crazy because the palm tree bugs have been exposed. Quote:
I actually never heard of those. What is going on with the lovebirds? Quote:
It's still too cold out there for me I'm impatiently waiting for summer. I have no quail in my yard. ![]()
