Starling WantedHi All,
I am very keen to raise a pet starling (have raised many Passerines in the past and have always wanted a starling), so I am wondering if anyone knows of a wildlife rehabilitator who might want to give away a nestling that someone turns in. I would appreciate any help tremendously, as I have been wanting to do this for several years and have never come upon an abandoned starling. Many, many thanks. Emma |

That shouldn't be a problem, Emma. Could you let us know where you are located?

Terry,
If you hear of any starlings up this way, I'm interested, too. I've had starlings in the past. They are so intelligent, entertaining, fun. My last starling was when I was still in high school, so really a long time ago. His name was Sqeegee. Squeegee could talk, not clearly, but did mimic human speech. He would stay outside during the day and come in at night. People would come to our house to visit, and Sqee would swoop down to land on them. You'd hear screams, swearing, and pounding feet as whoever he was trying to land on would run for the house. Too much Alfred Hitchcock, I guess. I have a new baby in the horse barn, mom is Rosie, a mealy bar homer(rescue from N.Y.) and BoBo, a black check, also a rescued homer, but from down east Maine. New baby's name is Piper. Ping is on the back of my chair right now, picking at my shirt, my hair, then on my shoulder to look me in the eye and play with my glasses. Daryl I hope to send pics to Pidgey this weekend. Things settling down here. All of my patients, human and puppy dog, all getting better, so now I have time to take a deep breath, and relax. |

Hi Daryl,
I'm glad things are settling down a bit for you. I belong to the StarlingTalk board, so if I see a starling in need of a home up your way, I will definitely let you know. Terry |
