That was hilarious, Cyreen! I've been wanting a "Joule" but that article may have cured me!

You know, I read something very similar in regard to kids last week that had the same effect on me.

On the flip side, it's very, very hard to put Joule to bed when she's stretched out full length on my forearm, cuddled into my chest, with her little yellow cheeks puffed up, purring while getting scritches.

It more than makes up for the "get me my food" screech I got at supper time.

New Lovebird

This is so funny, and really not far from the truth. Last fall I found a pigeon in our garage. I called him Buddy. He was with me for 2 months, and left one morning, and never returned. I am sure everyone is tired of hearing about it. It was so painful, as I became so attached to him. My story is posted. Anyway, just had to have another bird. Bought a cage with the intention of getting a dove for the house. But... Fell in love with a little hand tamed Lovebird instead. I should have read this thread before I purchased him/her. This bird is something. Very Special. Won my heart immediately. But...my day is revolving around, cleaning, feeding, taking him out of his cage and playing, and reading up on everything I can, so I don't do anything wrong. He has more toys than my kids did when they were young. Nothing is too good for this bird. My husband is in charge of purchasing the newspaper on Sundays, and he does it willingly. He's lucky if he can read the sport section, before I need the paper for the cage.. We wouldn't want any poop drops on the paper for very long. Right? Still Missing Buddy terribly, but this little one is well worth all the time and trouble. LOL. I thank you for all your advice last fall. We have had a terribly cold winter here in Michigan, and I am hoping to see my Buddy in the Spring. He was so smart. He probably flew south. Hope so...In the meantime, I have a new little one. dbartolo

Congratulations on your new addition! Everything balances out - what they demand and the time you invest is given back in laughter, joy and a few grey hairs. What's his name? I would love to see a picture.

This is so funny! I can empathize with so many of these with Kiko and Kalani (my pet pigeons). Being woken up at 4am to the bedside lamp crashing down (Kiko likes to fly around in the dark), finding holes in my shirts, stained sheets, drop cloths over the furniture, poopy patrol, having to change cloths at least twice a day, and so much more. Who knew such cute small creatures could create such havic! It's just impossible not to love them.

You know, today was the third time I've emailed that blog to someone who has said something along the lines of "I want a bird that can talk."

It's a good site, if you're looking for something to read: Parrot Nation
