Baby cokateil needs helpI have a 13 day old baby cockateil who has splayed legs (i think) (and curled toes), is there anyone in Toronto who can please help me to fix his legs and toes. I have no money for the vet.
I have put him in a padded cup last night after reading about it in forums. Please help if you know anyone in Toronto who I can go to and get his legs wrapped. |

Geet, at this young of an age you should be able to get a good result if the legs are aligned and taped/hobbled right, here are a few links on doing this and for giving him support in a small deep bowl:
http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/f6/pig...t=splayed+legs http://www.peafowl.org/ARTICLES/1/ http://www.parrotparrot.com/lovebird...ng-splay-legs/ Make sure you tape both the lower and upper legs and check frequently to make sure there is good circulation and the tape is not too tight. For the part of the tape the contacts the leg, cut a small piece of tape to cover this area, tape on tape so there is a small non-stick area, so the tape can float on the leg and not be stuck to it. Not sure if the Toronto Wildlife Center can be of much help, as most Wildlife places are only licensed to treat wild creatures, they most likely will refer you to a local vet (which you say is out of the question right now). Good luck with him, Karyn |

Thanks for all your help.
I went to the vet and got x-rays done. His right pelvis was crushed into pieces, and the left leg was also splaying and they said there is nothing to fix it and suggested to put him down because he would never be able to perch and would have a life of suffering. I had to get the baby euthanized (breaks my heart). |
