Talking

Loki a Northern Raven

Loki is my guy! www.windoverwings.com will bring you to the Raptor Rescue and Education Center that my husband and I volunteer at on Mondays. Great place with many GREAT birds. Loki is my favorite. Go under residents and run your arrow over each bird breed and see photos and get stories about each resident there. Got to love em!

Cricket, we won't tell anyone if you put him under your coat.

What a beautiful bird. I hope you'll share more with us about Loki.

Hi Cricket,

I really envy you, being able to interact with Loki on a daily basis at the centre. I wish I had the time to volunteer at a place like that. Loki is a sweetie

Cricket, thanks for sharing your experiences and that great link! I really like the individual bios for the residents. There isn't just a Moluccan Cockatoo, there's Blanco. Well done!!

I found it interesting that, when a bird at Wind Over Wings is found to be unreleaseable, you begin training by reading to the bird.

Cricket, they're all beautiful!

I, too, enjoyed reading all the individual bios for all the resident birds....some of them are very touching.

Thanks!

It truly is a learning experience to just be there... The woman in charge over there, Hope, has a kestrel flying around on the inside of her log cabin!!! It's a riot! He has a kestrel box mounted on the wall. He has a damaged foot... and kestrels use their feet to eat their prey... he can't preen himself too well. His name is Sedgewick. When you are in the house, you often feel the wind as he flies by as he barely misses your head! Blanco, the cockatoo, goes to education classes in a clear plastic carrier. Hope puts newspaper on the bottom of the carrier and when she is talking he sometimes rips to paper up... someone once saw him doing this and asked him "Blanco, what are you doing? Reading the Newspaper?" Blanco responded "Just Sports!" He's a hoot!!!
