The Crested OneWas a surprise. This is a grand-baby from "Mamma Mookie," who is not crested. The little one's parents are half siblings, both offspring of the same Mookie hen. Clearly they both got a half dose of crest from mom, because along came this little OOPS! baby and isn't he sporting headgear! The mom & dad have several other babies, but this is the first crested bird to appear. I am handling him a lot so hopefully he'll be pretty tame when he leaves his nest. I haven't named him and so far I just call him "the crested one" lol.

Sure looks like one to me! They are not strong fliers like homers or racers, but they can fly well.
