Chelsea went to the Rainbow Bridge today...

Our dear old cat Chelsea went to the Rainbow Bridge today. She was eighteen years old and has been feeling poorly on and off since January, but just when she would start to get bad, she would take a turn for the better and do well again. So she has been eating her special kitty food and sleeping on her heating pad but this last week she has just gone downhill very quickly. We wanted her to be able to pass away at home but today we took her to the vet and they put her to sleep. It was very quick and she didn't seem to know she was away from home. She was born in our house when her mom had her and her sister, Cindy, who may live forever and is in perfect health. She was a sweet cat, and very much a lady. When she was little she would sit on furniture and cross her paws over the edge. When she was a few years old, a vet diagnosed her with leukemia and wanted to put her to sleep, but instead I kept her in my room away from the other cats to see if she got better. She did, and then the vet said he'd made a mistake mixing up her records with another cat's! So we are especially glad she got those extra sixteen years of life. We will miss her a lot. Here she is on the left, with her sister Cindy on the right, and Rupert visiting them in the middle.

Bless her little heart. A true Senior Citizen. How lucky that you were to have had her for so long. She was a beautiful cat.

Im so sorry maryjane it sounds like she was a muched loved member of your family, but then again im sure that any animal that comes to you is as loved as much as any other of your charges. im glad you were able to bless her (and vice versa) so many happy years of love.

I'm so sorry to hear that Chelsea passed over MJ. My heart goes out to you and the whole family... I'm so glad you had so many good years with her though I know that doesn't make loosing her any easier. Bless you for not following the advice of the vet when she was mis-diagnosed too! Comforting {{{hugs}}} to you and give Cindy and Rupert and extra smooch too.

Sorry about your little kitty, Maryjane, I wish our feathered and furry friends could share our entire lifetimes...losing the ones we care about it is the worst part of living. She had a good long life with you though, and went peacefully. Those are blessings.

I am so sorry MJ. I have four cats, one of them is named Chelsea and she is old. I know I will be devastated when the time comes.
RIP Chelsea.

I am so sorry, MaryJane. I'm a cat person and lost my beloved Scottish Fold, Bubba, when he was 19, not that long ago. I can sympathize AND empathize!

Sending loving healing thoughts and hugs at this sad time!

Shi and
Twiggy, Gypsy and Timmy - who also send gentle paw touches...

I'm so sorry you had to say good bye to Chelsea. You'll see her again some day and in the meantime, I really think she is still with you on some level. Big hug.

{this is the second time I posted in this thread, the other just disappeared]

I'm so sorry. I know there is nothing any of us can say or do to make it easier but we're here and we care.
