Terry,

So sad to see him go, but glad that he got to spend his last years under your loving care.

WE HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THE LOVELY SERENA WILL ATTRACT THE ATTENTION(S) OF ANOTHER MALE, young or older!! SHE WON'T EVEN HAVE TO TRY! Squeaks says he guarantees this, straight from the pigeon's beak!

Do let us know how she does and who the lucky one will be! The males DO know they will be getting a beautiful experienced hen!

With Love, Hugs and Scritches

Shi & Squeaks

I'm sorry to hear the De Senna is gone. He was one great bird in his day and he lived a long fulfilling life in more ways than one. He's got great, great (+) grandkids carrying on his genes all over the country. I know you'll miss him, but it did have a long wonderful life.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Serena seems to be doing OK today .. maybe a little bit "lost" but eating, drinking, and enjoying the sunshine. I suspect she will choose another fella in the not too distant future.

I'm very sorry for your loss of your precious De Senna, Terry I'm sure the time you had him you spoiled him and made his live very comfortable! He's flying free now sharing tales of all the adventures he had in his 16 years on this plane of existence.

Terry, thanks for giving that very special retirement home to DeSenna, a most distinguished gent, and the love of his life, Serena. It may seem like a short time all in all, but a special time for sure. I know you will be sensitive to Serena's grieving period and a gracious cupid as well, if that's in the stars.
You were truely there for these two special ones.

Terry, just thought I'd let you know, that we just purchased a bird from a man in Utah and De Senna is it's great grandfather. On the pedigree, he was mated to a GB banded bird, (90083"), who came to be known as the "083" hen and was one of the best birds Campbell Strange ever raised. I've been looking for a Van Loon hen for quite a while now, and finally found one a few days ago that I was actually willling to pay money for.

Thanks for posting this, Renee! I hope the bird will be a good one for you! De Senna was quite a grand old pigeon.

That is wonderful Renee!!! I hope she proves to be as grand as her grandpops and also breeds you many champs/winners.

Please post a pic when she arrives.

What a wonderful living tribute/memorial to the grand noble De Senna. I'm feeling a tear coming on...

Here she is. I too hope she turns out to be a good breeder. She's a 2008 bird, so she's got lots of years ahead of her.
