He now has a full crop, fair winds, and no hawks.
Furthermore, he has Gertrude, Oskar, and Squidget to keep him company. what more could a well loved fat and happy pijie want?

Fly with the Angels son....

Terry, I'm sure sorry to hear about Smokey, especially with the sad times you have had lately. I hope that you find some peace and comfort and feel better. Smokey was very lucky to have had you.

Thank you everyone! Smokey is, indeed, now flying free with the angels and has no earthly problems or bounds to constrain him. I know that he has met up with our other beloveds and they are forming a special little flock of their own.

I hadn't thought of it like that....

That is very comforting to imagine for all of the heartbreaking losses among our members lately.

Thanks Terry,

Linda

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. It was very depressing to have to see Smokey's empty house for the first few days. As usual, his home was soon needed for a new incoming bird that needed help.

Sorry for your loss, Terry.

Smokey was a handsome pigeon. I have always admired the breast feathers in his photo, which looked like delicate, elegant brush strokes made by a painter.

It's good that his empty house is now occupied by another bird. Empty houses look so ... empty. And sad.

Best wishes. With all the work you do for injured animals, you run into a lot of heartbreaks. My wife Hilde says she has trouble dealing with so much sadness that accompanies such work. We take it as it comes, and hope it comes slowly, if it must come at all.

Larry

Terry, I'm so sorry you lost your Smokey. He was very beautiful, and at least he had 5 wonderful years.

Yes, indeed, Terry, we have quite a flock watching over us.
Smokey is a beautiful pigeon 'angel'.

I am sad that your pigeon died miss Terry. My papa victor said you save a lot of birds and make them well but that all animals sometimes have to leave us when it is time for them to go. sorry he died.

Terry, Smokey was indeed a beauty and such a sweetheart. I'm sorry for your
loss yet also touched to know that he was able to enjoy many years of care as a special needs pigeon.

Thank you, everyone, and Alex especially. Alex, your Papa is right .. sometimes the pigeons just need us for a little while and sometimes forever. Smokey needed someone forever, and he had me. I wish he would have had more time on this earth, but he didn't, and I was blessed to be able to care for him for several years. He was truly a beautiful bird .. not only to look at, but just to see his soul.

Terry
